Installing a Washing Machine the Correct Way

Aug 26th, 2011 Mike Downer

Installing a new washing machine is a straight forward task and it does not require any technical or master level skills. But before starting its installation, it is important that you remove all the packaging material that comes up with the washing machine. Also get your instructions manual ready. First read carefully through the instructions because they will be of great help for you.

Washing machines usually arrive with the PVC hoses. Sometimes they are color coded but if they are not, then connect them as the senses direct to the water openings. First make sure that the valve is closed to ensure smooth functioning. Keep the necessary tools that you need ready with you like a hammer, drill machine, nuts and bolts.

An electric socket is required and ideally it should be near the place where you are planning to install the machine. If it is too far away from the place where you want to install the machine, then you need to get an electric socket and an electric wire. The next step is to make an electric connection with this socket through the wire with a nearby electric point. When this work has been done, place the washing machine in its appropriate place.

Now connect the power cord to the electrical cord. Put the water in the machine and turn on the machine by pressing the power button mentioned on the washing machine. Make a test run. The machine will rotate the water smoothly. You should also manage the waste water. A pipe that will drain out the waste water should be connected to either drainage system or somewhere where it can be smoothly passed away.

These days' automatic washing machines are very common. These machines have a self timer and capability to perform the job in the timeliest fashion. These machines are cost and energy efficient and save you a bulk deal of money in the future, many times ahead. Washing machine may be kept outdoor or indoor. It all depends upon your preferences and conditions.

Be careful to give a good support to the washing machine downwards. A good wooden base will be fine. It will also ensure that the bottom of the machine does not get rusted due to moisture which is very common in the moist areas. Do not over tighten the hoses. Often people will over tight the hoses connections and nuts which will result in more possibilities of leakage.

These hoses have a rubber seal and valve which is very delicate. If someone over tightens the connection it can be risky to the life of rubber seal which can easily be broken. Hence, the leakage is likely to occur. Washing machine hoses are normally short and long ones, may be needed in order to reach the junction points. A choice is available that one can either buy a new one from the market or use some junctions or connectors to connect the short pieces so that finally they can reach the water opening.
